I got a brand new RA-06SE (had to wait for the stock to come in black since silver is the default color stock in Manila, Philippines) after much A/B auditions with its more aplomb sibling - the RA-1520.
I'm aware that the budget 06SE line is 'below' the fabled 15 series which is being peddled as a high-end line here, despite the fact that the internals are almost designed and constructed the same way sans the T Caps and the physically separate left/right preamp section found on the 1520.
FYI the RA-06SE retails for PhP 25.5K here (GBP 375.66 at P 67.88/1GBP) while the RA-1520 retails for PhP 42.5K here (GBP 626.10 at P 67.88/1GBP)
So that is a GBP 250.44 step up in price, not a 100 or so.
Anyway,
I believe stars are added / subtracted based on price, performance and reviews of critics, I just find it odd that the RA-06SE competes for stars comparing it to the GBP 600-700 cluster when it should be somewhere in the GBP 300-400 to which the result is obvious.
Another FYI: Most audiophiles in the Philippines actually consider reviews by WHF as bible truth sad to say, and most are 'starstruck' by only getting equipment with 5 stars.
