Simple, cheap and easy to use but where sound is concerned, the i10 disappoints

Yes, an iPod can sound better docked than via the headphone socket - but in our opinion, having compared this Pure model to many others, you can buy far better dock options.

Remember, you don't have to buy the same brand dock as the product you're linking to. Pure makes many five-star products, but if you want a cheap option to add an iPod to them, we'd recommend something such as Apple's own Universal Dock.

Harsh review, given how awful the sound quality can be from linking iPods directly to external units via the headphone socket.  I found the i-10 really improved the sound quality of my iPod when used with a Pure Chronos CD player - which interestingly your magazine reviewed favourably when it first came out.  The i-10 produces a better sound from an iPod through a Pure unit than when playing a CD - and is a cost effective alternative to ditching a bedside unit completely and upgrading!

Again a harsh review I have mine connected to my Marantz PM6002 via RCA connectors with Acoustic Energy Evo floor standers and for the £30 odd price tag that the Pure cost, the sound is excellent in my opinion. Agreed that tere may be an improvement with higher end stuff but I have yet to sample it. I heard it through a B&W Zeppelin and thought my sound was as good if not better than the Zep. What did you compare it to anything of the same price tag as for £30 it does a reasonable job! 3.5*

A harsh review indeed for the price of £30 I think this docking station does a good job.  I have mind connected to the Bose Campanion 2 speakers and the result is excellent and for a much cheaper option I am delighted with the result.
