This is a very good TV but it took me two weeks to get the adjustments right. The set arrived with colours too vivid and all the dark areas in the picture solid black - with no detail. The supplier and I both failed to get a 'natural' picture and so rang Philips tech support. They supplied the following settings. Press 'home',Go into the settings and set Contrast-76; Brightness- 64; Colour-64; Sharpness-0; Tint-normal; Perfect Natural Motion-minimum; Dynamic Contrast-min; 200 Hz-on; Colour enhancer-minimum; MPEG-on. Starting with these, I was able to tweak a bit to my taste. The HD pictures are now excellent - almost three dimensional. SD pictures are a bit soft - as expected on 42 in screen, even with upscaling. The screen isn't completely uniform, for the screen luminance drops off a little at both sides of the picture, but not top and bottom.
All in all - a great set. As a family we watched a National Geographic film in HD which we were not interested in - drawn in by the stunning quality of the picture. Thankyou Philips.

I purchased this TV last week from Tec7 in House of Fraser for ???1349 - this seems to be the best price currently available in the UK (for some reason it is not yet showing up on Pricerunner, Kelkoo etc).
In short it is as good as the reviews say, everything is brilliant HD, standard picture and sound all pretty near perfect. Watching Blu Ray on a relatively cheap player (???180 Sony 363) you really do feel like you are looking out of a window watching the action.
I know TVs will continue to improve but in terms of picture at least it is hard to see how.
