Philips TVs are sold through independent dealers, on the Philips website, at Selfridges and also selected M&S stores. I suggest you ring Philips on 0870 9009070 to find your nearest stockist.
I have this LCD for 3 months. I share the great features of this new baby!
Its great, somewhat limmited for some in changing colours but you get the job done.
I found that some panels have a viewing angle issue, colours go grey at -30degrees out of the middle. There are 2 or more revisions out there, I'm getting a new one.
So watch the panel before you get this one back home!
With a face picture the defect shows best, if its there.
I'm a Philips fan, but I've had so many problems with the Dutch LCDs I won't buy one so soon. Three years ago, I got the first ambilight surround (three-sided) but a two-inch grey vertical patch appeared on the screen. Users complained about the same on forums in the internet. Later models had some kind of problem. There are people now complaining about your winner 42PFL9664 ("watermarks" in fast movements. I fell in love with the 9704 the first time I saw it, but, nope, we won't match.
Interesting comment about uniformity of traditional LCDs as on my 9704 I see quite poor uniformity on solid colour areas of the screen e.g. walls, sky etc. It appears as vertical lines which I can only assume are gaps between strips of LEDs.
I've contacted the store I purchased the set from as accordings to forums on mainland europe philips are aware of the issue.
The Sharp panel also takes some getting used to for standard definition pictures.
is this tv worth buying, because from what sdharris is saying its not the best?? could some one let me know if it is any good or worth looking else where??
Wow ! It is such a wonderful Television of Philips Company.Actually I saw many design of T.V in above but I really liked this Philips 40PFL9704 design very much. I want to purchase this Television.
