As a wireless TV, this really fits the bill. Whether it's worth the money is questionable

Even millionaires are entitled to value for money.

Unfair? Why? We really don't think this set delivers a big enough step up in performance from much less expensive ones to justify its enormous price tag.

As Clare says, yes it's very clever and the wireless transmission works well, but that alone is not enough to justify the premium.

Well, we certainly wouldn't award five stars (or four) to a product that's a 'rip-off' as you call it!

And the fact that the Z1 streams 1080p isn't enough in itself to justify five stars we'd expect Kuro levels of picture quality, which it doesn't achieve.

Frenchiefr - Other readers may want to know (as you don't make it clear in your bio) that as you've stated in other posts, you run a Panasonic shop.

Please make that fact clear in your bio and signature to comply with House Rules. We welcome both manufacturer and retailer comment, but with full disclosure as to your identity. Thanks!

Sorry, but i'm confused - are you saying there's a mistake with our review? We clearly say the Panasonic is fully wireless, and indeed praise it highly for that fact.

However, you can't ignore that it's outperformed by a set costing half the price - and as all our reviews are conducted on a performance-per-pound basis, in our opinion this set just doesn't represent good value.

Yes, it's a very clever set. Yes, it performs very well. But it doesn't deliver class-leading performance - which it would have to at that price to gain a five-star rating.

Staggerlee - the Z1 is the best 2009 Panasonic we've tested to date, but it's not a massive leap up in performance from the more-affordable Viera sets in the new line-up.

There seems to be something of a mood amongst your readers that your mag is now discriminating against panasonic TVs and I have to concur with that view. After all did you not award a Group Test win to a Philips TV that offered "slightly" better picture at a 50% premium on the Panasonic price? Performance/pounds? If panasonic were to make slight performance improvements but hike their prices by 50% would you still give them 5 stars? I doubt it. Then when Panasonic do release the "step-up" set which is still 300 cheaper than the Phillips, you knock off a star becasue it doesn't have "the WOW factor". Now how subjective is that? Is your WOW the same as mine? I think your reviewer, Mr H Simpson is being dazzled by those flashy Philips Ambilights. Having said all of that, there is NO WAY I am splashing out best part of 5k on a TV which is definitlely WOW free.

ok

3 stars only you must be joking is the first ever tv can stream 1080p yes 1080p not 1080i like some other brand i will not  name it,i think the depth is slim enough anyway this day everyone want to get slimer and slimer only good if you want to put it on the wall, please whathifi before you make a  critism about a tv set ,you should write the right info for the tv like the TXL32X15 saying the set come with DLNA not!!!! specially when customer come with the magazine into our shop to buy a tv and tell me the magazine is right, i do subcribe to you magazine and i do notice a few mistakes sometimes mistakes are only human but do the right thing guys come on!!!

3 stars is unfair! 4 would be better. I don't know if I can trust you anymore What HiFi!

Hey Andy, I did not mean any offense, I hope none was taken. I think that giving it 3 stars was a little low! The reason I say that is because this is the first TV that can stream 1080p! Yes, it's mega, and I mean mega expensive, but you must remember this is like the X series from Sony, it's a rip off, but it's there for the people who want to have awesome picture quality, and features. In a few years, this TV will probably be as cheap as other sets! Anyway, it's my opinion, you have the right to have your opinion at 'What HiFi? Sound And Vision' and I am allowed to have mine! Thanks Smile

Yes, but, see this TV from a millionaires point of view Smile

At the end of the day, picture performance is what matters, rather than its ability to stream 1080p. It would be good to know how this Tv compares with the G15, V10 range

Thanks Clare for the clarification.

P46Z1 is a truly stunning TV and your review looks like a joke.realy shame!!
