O.K I have just purchased this t.v online for ???723 it will arrive in a couple of days and i will write a good review then. But i just had to comment about the person who says they can get a better picture with a more expensive hdmi cable .... i`m afraid this is not true it`s exactly the same picture no matter what hdmi cable you use as it`s the same signal through the cable companies are trying to con people. buy a hdmi for just ???5 is no different than buying one for ???55. If you do experience bad quality then it is the blu ray movie not the cable that is causing it.. just read the blu-ray reviews on some movies like bangkok dangerous which is terrible and grainy totaly not acceptable as a blu-ray in my opinion and then batman dark knight which is superb. will update when i get my t.v can`t wait for free hd channels even though there`s not much there yet lol

I have just got this Panasonic 42" plasma and a Panasonic blu ray player DMPBD80EBK and the pic is sharp as a samurai sword from japan and fast moving films there is no lag i can see. I love it on just a cheap cable but i no i can get even better pic and color with a better hdmi cable. So whats the best hdmi cable for the job from tv to blu ray the tv is 600hz 24fps so what hdmi cable can do this.

Hi 'impulsive'
so many questions left un-answered, where do you do your 'viewing'.
what cables does the shop use?.what modles did you view?.I'm sure you know shop's turn up most of the settings [brightness, contrast etc] to attract the unknowing punter.
Whats your budget! what size screen! what do you want to watch, freeview/sat film sport dvd, help us to help you. my rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. That said plasma generally do better blacks than LCD but then you will need a big room?. As the boys from the mag say Pioneer do some great tv's if black your thing, and now that they have stopped making them you can get some good deals. myself i'm a panasonic man.

Hey there 'impulsive', I don't know exactly what you refer to when stating that you
''dont know that much about plasma and to all u die hard fans no offence but i viewed a few in the shop and they all seemed a bit dull and not defined''
I'm hoping that you KNOW that shops selling tv's usually have them all hooked up to the ONE feed ?
I too was on the lookout for a new LCD thinking that it HAD to be the way forward until friendly persuation from the 'plazma people' gave me some proper advice on the differences between the formats....
put quite simply plazma handles motion better than lcd therefor if like me you like movies and sport ... plazma ftw :)

I'v got to say im a plasma fan but if its not your cup a tea, have a look at the new LED tv's on the market this yr, I'v seen the new Samsung-UE46b7020 and if blacks are what your looking for this si it and with sharp colours its well worth a look. Im still not 100% happy with it handling motion. Plasma will cope with motion better but its colour wont be as vivid as some LCD's, I think thats a good thing.

dont know that much about plasma and to all u die hard fans no offence but i viewed a few in the shop and they all seemed a bit dull and not defined. now the black levels where good but every colour seemed to have a dark taint. thats just what i saw in the store though. And i am hoping these niggles can be gone with some tweaking. cos im looking for a tv that can do dark scenes justice. Any advice welcome.
