I have this machine and it is a very good blue ray player, the only thing I could fault it on was it is slow to boot up a disc.
If you can live with that then you won't find a better quality player for the price, I'm more than impressed with this machine with its features and it's picture quality.
Don't be put off by the price I picked mine up on the new new for 165 mutitegieon delivered.
Just got this player to replace a PS3. It's way, way better for image and sound. I initially got the Sony BDP 570 with all the online stuff and fancy menus etc, but thought the image quality a bit flat and not any better than the ps3. The Sony also made a buzzing noise and I could hear it above quiet passages. Then it started glitching on some discs so I got rid and went for the BD85. OK it is a bit slower to load, and the menu system is a bit clunky and out moded, but when you see the picture quality all of this pales into insignificance. Great sound too! True the online stuff is a bit thin, but I am slow pleased I went for substance over style. The only prob is getting hold of one... Sold out everywhere! Plus it has the wifi donlge included.

The DMP-BD85 is pitched against both the Sony BDP-S370 and BDP-S760 in the June issue of the mag, on sale now.
Buy it now, read the Supertest, and all will be revealed!
I'd like to see how this compares to the new Sonys when they come out.
What are the loading time like compared to the BD80?
Does any one know how this machine would compare to the Sony BDPS370. Obviously the Sony is cheaper.
Would be interesting against the bdp-s760 as you can get that for about 260 nowadays

I hear this player has very slow loading times, but picture quality and sound might be better than the Sony BDP-S370.
Anyone know a multi region hack just for dvd's? it won't play my USA Gladiator S E.
