You almost always never mention what associated equipment is used when reviewing a piece of equipment. This info would be very useful in determining how a certain piece of equipment sounds. As an example a bright sounding amp could lead to the incorrect conclusion that the speaker sounds too bright or the treble is too forward. Likewise some amps can control the bass of a speaker better than others. An amp with poor bass control can incorrectly lead to the conclusion that the speaker exhibits poor or flabby bass.
One man's flabby is another man's perfect. I auditioned similarly priced ProAc's and B&W's, and the RX6's before buying these and I never felt the bass was 'flabby', it just reached down where others didn't. Fed from a Naim CD5i (II), and bi-amped with an ageing yet faithful pair of Arcam Delta 290's they sound stunning to me, and the looks are to match. What more do you want? I'm also impressed with just how well focussed and imaged the music is considering the sheer number of drivers and size of these speakers. Given the competition at this price they're well worth an audition, it really did seem a no brainer to me.
I have a pair of Monitor Audio RX8, RX Centre and a pair of RXFX speakers in a 12 x 14 feet. room and the sound is impressive, the RX8 bass is amazing, deep and controlled. (not overblown bass). And same with mids and treble.
I think that, the RX8's are much better than RX6's for music and movies .

Superb review team, but it's the same old cliche that RS8 were known for 'flabby bass'.
