These are insanely good headphones! I had two concerns before purchasing:

1. the bass would be a little overpowering (I've always preferred more treble-biased 'phones) and 2. the midrange would be a bit recessed

I needn't have worried, everything sounds spot on to me and these are the most balanced headphones I have ever had the privilege to listen to. However, when they need to go low they can go lowwwww, which is awesome - everyone has at least a few tracks which need some super-ooomph! They drag up tons of detail yet I can listen to these all evening without discomfort (I couldn't put up with Grados or Sennheiser HD650 over long listening periods). I use them with a DACPort on my laptop and the results are achingly good! They also do the impossible by sounding open and airy despite being closed back (with the additional benefit of not disturbing others)

I bought them on the strength of reading many extremely positive reviews online, I'm surprised that What HiFi weren't bowled over by them but I guess it all down to personal preference - these headphones make me happy
