Whether it’s one box or two, Cyrus amps seem to be incapable of producing a lacklustre performance

I changed a pre vs for a pre xpd qx with a psx-r.  With the cdxtse+ and psx-r the musical presentation was as expected; detailed, had finesse and an expansive soundstage. Connected to a pair of X-Power amps that bi-amp a pair of Mission 753 speakers, the results are very satisfying.

Again from Germany,

I have to revise my review as I was having a fault in my set up which had nothing to do with the Pre.

An interconnect with a BNC plug was not connected properly. PhonoAmp to Pre.

All problems gone and sounds now very, very good also in connection with the X-Power Amp.

So What Hifi is completely correct. It is a very good Pre.

Based on the recommmendation I have bought it but with an XPower.

After 3 weeks I'am still very disappointed. This combination sounds harsh and very very bright.

May be it the X-Power so I will try an 8 power instead.

It is not a question of my other set up, which was driven before with an 8 VS. This is much better, not so detailed perhaps but much more musical.

I've just purchased the Cyrus Pre XP and 8 Power Pre/Power-amp promotion, plus a Cyrus PSX-R external power supply connected to the 8 Power, and paired with a set of Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Baby Grand speakers. The Cyrus pre/power combination is excellent. The music is warm and open, from well defined treble to warm and punchy bass. When I auditioned the Pre/Power combination there was no PSX-R connected and I thought the setup struggled once the volume was set high. With the addition of the PSX-R, staging is maintained at much higher volumes and the bass is better defined. I will be purchasing an additional 8 Power and PSX-R as soon as I can afford it to run them as mono blocks. Worthy of its 5 star rating I think.
