When I first received these speakers, I was very impressed with the build quality. The speakers are solid wood, very solid & finished in a piano black lacquer. The Unison dock supplied with them though is not quite up to the same standard. Some of the connections seem poor and light weight. The other disappointing thing is, although I can listen to music from my iTouch (using the dock) it cannot be charged or fully controlled by the remote. My iPod Classic works perfectly in the dock. Using a Apple Airport Express via the RCA connection the sound quality is good fast and forward. For there size, the bass is enormous. This was great for about 5 minutes. It took a few hours of messing about, making sure the rear ports were far enough from walls & stands correctly isolated to control the bass. Even then bass could be overblown. I found older recordings (pre 1990 CD's originally recorded for vinyl) ripped using iTunes into AAC 256kbs gave great quality even sound with controlled bass. Newer CDs could still sound bass heavy. Overall I like the sound produced and am very happy with the sound quality. Great if like me you love Metal, Rock, or even Classical music.
