I own the slightly older version of the ARCHOS 5 with a mighty 120GB disc - which makes it a perfect storage, playback, recording and backup machine for my multi-media files.
Videos play smoothly, images are crisp, sharp and colors are vivid without being rediculous. You need to make sure you use movies with the formats served by the tablet or buy additional codecs - which I never found necessary (unless you wqish to watch HD video).
Internet browsing is good but not excellent. Websited display as they would on a regular PC, but connecting takes its sweet time. Otherwise - a flawless experience.
Pictures and PDFs are presented in a smooth, easy to navigate interface. The excellent display makes reading and viewing a treat.
As for music - file management is good, but not brilliant. Sound settings and pre-amp are very good though I did hear better ones on the Apple series or stronger pre-amps on most Cowon products, etc. But music generators provide detailed reproduction, with good headroom and good enough EQ controls.
The only real downsides I find with this wonder machine is its relative heft (hard disc has its prices) and thickness (ditto)and the rubbish headphones that come with it standard.
