A player of many talents, namely detail and finesse but slightly lacking in excitement

Can't agree with this review. Stating the obvious, but CD player tastes are somewhat a matter of opinion and in mine this is a great little machine. Detailed and full sounding, this is an improvement on the previous 192 Diva model, with better looks and a cheaper price tag to boot.

Hearing it inspired me to try the CD37. I'm now £1000 lighter.....

Hats off to Arcam!

I think this is a great CD player and is well worth considering.  Mine is partnered to the A18 amplifier which shares the same remote which functions well.  I've Monitor Audio BR5 floorstanders and decent interconnects and cabling and it's brought new life to many of my CD's.  I previously had Marantz CD63 KI with matching amp which was great but I think this eclipses that system.  Well done Arcam!

I just don't quite agree with the main review.  I have paired the CD17 with a Krell KAV-400xi amplifier and Dynaudio Contour 1.3SE monitors.

The CD17 sounds excellent by any standard, detail and soundstage are first rate. Theoretically the Arcam is outclassed in my system in practice it is a wonderful addition, a keeper.

While, not built quite like a Krell, it is built very well.  The review nitpicked the remote for being cheap.  It is not super solid but looks okay.  It's performance though is excellent!  You can literally aim the remote anywhere in my room and control the player.

I know that you can buy better CD players but I am quite positive that the cost will be quite steep.
