UPDATE: KEF announces more KHT surround speaker range price-cuts

KEF has announced more price reductions on its KHT home cinema speaker range.
The latest reductions affect the individual components of the KHT system:
The HTS3001SE satellites are now £250, down from £300/pr
HTC3001 centre speaker is now £200, from £250
HTB2SE subwoofer now £500, from £650
HTB2SE-W subwoofer now £600, down from £750
KEF has also reduced the price of the HTS5001.2 satellite to £180 each, from £250 apiece
POSTED 07.11.09: It's no secret we've long been fans of KEF's KHT range of stylish home cinema speakers – indeed, the KHT3005SE system was our Product of the Year style speaker package in 2008 – but a round of price hikes earlier this year had, frankly, made them uncompetitive.
Now it seems KEF has been listening hard to us and its customers, and has decided to reduce its prices back to their original levels.
So from November 9th, the KHT range will be priced as follows:
KHT3005SE £999.99 (was £1199.99)
KHT3005SE-W £1099.99 (was £1299.99)
KHT5005.2 £1299.99 (was £1499.99)
KHT7005 £799.99 (was £899.99)
KHT8005 £999.99 (was £1099.99)
"We always listen to consumer feedback and try to be proactive in changing market conditions," says KEF Audio's UK sales manager, Nick Bryant.
"With the exchange rates continuing to stabilise, we now have the opportunity to pass on a significant reduction on the suggested retail price on some of KEF's most popular products."
The recently introduced KHT2005.3-KI and KHT3005SE-K2 packages, which were £700 and £1000 respectively, are discontinued. The original KHT2005.3 system remains at its current price of £800.

Well i'd imagine they HAVE to change their pricing due to other companies having great and probably better speakers for the price.
I used to have KHT2005's and changed them for Tannoy speakers.
Tannoy Arena's for me (with stands of course)
The difference in sound was amazing, absolutely amazing.
KEF do not deserve the attention grabbing headline 'slashes prices of its KHT surround speaker' you have given them, clearly they have not slashed prices at all just returned to previous price. You should know better!
Suspect that the lack of an Award this year may have prompted them to revert back to their original pricing.
Shame for them it's too late for the What Hi-Fi awards
Well done Wireman for stating the obvious. Sorry, but how many times have KEF either dropped their prices or amazingly launched a new revised SE turbo injection version of a product that has only been out six months at a time when they have become uncompetative. That usually means when something else comes along or they drop a star. Maybe this is the way the Chinese run their business?
I buy my speakers based on Price, Performance and Value For Money and do not understand how lowering prices of award winning products would be a bad thing for me or anybody else when spending money.
The problem is that its a spectacular volte-face which undermines credibility.
And the problem with KEF lowering their prices for Customers is...........what? The KHT systems now represent better value for money. What is the problem in that? The 3005SE sounds awesome and has won numerous awards and now costs under a grand. How or why they have done it doesn't really matter - at least they've done it. Good effort - no negatives!
Itd seem that you believe KEF's explanation. There are more plausible reasons that could be given for cutting prices.
And Twaddle is??? Yes I do know, but do you?
What a load of twaddle - "exchange rates continuing to stabilise"? Anyone who follows the markets knows that's a fib. What they really mean is that their products ceased to be competitive at those inflated prices. In this recessionary market, your choices are either to slash prices and shift product or die. End of.
