One For All SmartControl
One For All SmartControl: £25

One For All has just launched SmartControl, which it claims is the first universal remote to work with all the latest digital equipment such as HDTVs, set-top boxes, iPod docks, MP3 players, home cinema systems and Blu-ray players, plus PS2 and Xbox 360 consoles.

Its SmartControl technology enables the user to program multiple macros, allowing you to control several devices simultaneously.

For example, press the 'Watch Movie' button and you can control the volume on your TV as well as the functions of your DVD/Blu-ray player and AV amp at the same time.

Similar pre-programmed buttons for 'Watch TV' and 'Listen to Music' enable you to manage all the main functions of your AV equipment from one command.

The remote knows which commands to send to which device – so you no longer have to switch between device modes or several different remotes.

It also features SimpleSet, a three-button set-up system for all the most popular brands of electronics. This means you don't have to search for code numbers when registering the remote with your hi-fi or AV equipment.

One For All's SmartControl is available now for £25 from Argos and Comet.

You're right, alwatson - it controls the PS2. Story now amended.

For an extra £20 you get a harmony 555.  I got one last week and it's fantastic.  I think you need a display to see what your actually controlling.

Bizarre, I was just thinking of going for the Harmony 515 or 525 then this comes along.  Anybody tried it yet?  I can't find any reviews online yet.

PS3? That can't be right, considering it's only 25. I'd buy it if it was.

did you ever get the feeling someone writes the news just for you?  I'm having a Truman Show moment...
