Denon 'clarifies' price changes and special March promotions

Denon has clarified some of its recent price increases and discount promotions, following a spate of price increases on February 1st and more changes planned for April 1st.
The Denon DVD-3800BD Blu-ray player was £1699 in January, went up to £1999 on February 1st, but will be "permanently repositioned" at a price of £1499 from April 1st. Many dealers are already offering it at the new lower price, or even less.
The Denon DVD2500BT Blu-ray transport was £899 in January, went up to £929 on February 1st and will drop back to £899 from April 1st. In the meantime, Denon is running a special promotion price on this product of £749 for the month of March, available from any Denon retailer.
The Denon DVD-1800BD player was launched at £599, increased to £699 on February 1st and will remain at that price from April 09. However, as with the DVD-2500BT, there's a special promotion in March on the DVD-1800BD at a discount price of £399, again available from all Denon dealers.
Finally, the Denon AVR-4308 multichannel receiver was £2099 in January, rose to £2699 on February 1st and will remain at that price from April 1st. Again, as with the two Blu-ray players, there's a March-only promotion offering it at a discount price of £1799 from all Denon dealers.
Good, that's cleared that up then.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm Danone
Poor promotional gimmick. Either give a discount or not. This year will be a tough one for all consumers, manufacturers and retailers. Get real Denon!
Random,
Thats not a bad summing up, I was thinking the same, makes them look rather silly and panicking.
Clarification eh? Yeah, right. More likely a case of:-
1) Right let's raise prices by x percent to take account of the dollar/£ exchange rate
2) While we're at it let's add another 10 percent because we need to make some more money in these tough times.
3) C**p! All the dealers have told us to sling our hook and that there's not a cat in hell's chance they'll order anything at these prices.
4) Quick... let hack the prices back down before all the dealers switch to stocking other brands.
5) But how will we explain the about face? I know... we'll call it a clarification.
Or am I being too cynical?
Is there any truth that there's a 5% discount on all Denon products on a Tuesday lunchtime, but only if it's a sunny day? Just like their user manuals, a policy that's almost impenetrable!
Are other units dicounted for March too? I fancy a 2809 to replace my 2805.
Hence the inverted commas in the title....
Some strange new meaning of clarification I was not previously aware of
