Classic Bond comes to Blu-ray: it's official!

MGM and Fox have confirmed that six classic James Bond films will be available on Blu-ray later this year. To coincide with the cinema release of Quantum of Solace, six titles including Dr. No, Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only will be released in HD on October 20th.
Both the sound and picture of the films have been restored and re-mastered using the Lowry frame-by-frame digital process, so we hope the titles should be mighty impressive. What's more, the discs will be jam-packed with extras and special features, too.
The full list of titles set for release in Blu-ray is Dr. No, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, Die Another Day, From Russia With Love and Thunderball. With Casino Royale setting a frighteningly high standard on Blu-ray, we say roll on the 20th October...

I have all the ultimate editions on dvd. So I won't be buying them all again. When the new bond film is released then the rest of my collection will of course be on blueray.
"From Russia With Love" was stunning in the Ultimate DVD edition. So I certainly have high hopes for it on Blu Ray. When a decent amount of money is spent remastering for HD from a top quality master then High Definition really shines ( eg The Searchers, Casablanca, Adventures of Robin Hood on HD DVD). I hope these releases live up to their potential. If so then they arrive just in time for Christmas and a Blu Ray player suddenly becomes a must have item.
That's the week our Awards issue is out... I can feel a competition coming on!
